Saltmarsh, pier, open Sound

Two habitats a five-minute walk apart: a saltmarsh with rails and raptors, and a fishing pier that puts you out over the Sound with the scoters and loons. The best cold-weather half-day on this list if you don't want to commit to a hike.

Effort Easy · 1.2 mi, two stops Level sidewalk and viewing platforms; the marsh loop is short.
When to go High tide pushes birds close on the water; the marsh is good all day.
Access Free. Paid lots near the ferry terminal. Walkable from the Sounder station. Directions eBird hotspot
