Shoreline, bluff forest

West Seattle's reliable shoreline mile: herons and kingfishers on the beach, goldeneye and bufflehead rafting offshore, eagles overhead, and a resident Barred Owl pair in the forest above. The closest dependable birding to home, and it fits in an hour when that's all there is.

Effort Easy · 2–3 mi shoreline Flat paved shoreline path; stairs and sloped trails connect the bluff forest above.
When to go High tide, when the birds push close to the seawall. The Barred Owls are found by listening for mobbing crows.
Access Free lots off Fauntleroy Way SW, by the ferry terminal. Directions eBird hotspot
